Hubert De Givenchy, known for his elegant haute couture designs and years long relationship with Audrey Hepburn. He was born in to an aristocratic family in France in 1927 and went on to study fashion in school, he then worked for several fashion designers in Paris and opened his own design house in 1952. His debut collection was a hit and featured long skirts, tailored tops that included the 'Bettina Blouse' that was named after Bettina Graziani, in other collections, featured elegant evening gowns, feminine hats and tailored suits and became the synonymous with Parisian chic. In the 60's the Givenchy style changed to shorter hemlines and straighter silhouettes and set new trends in embracing the aspects of youth culture.
Below is a short story that shows the making of makeup products, whist watching this very short clip it made me think that Givenchy take beauty seriously; it is treated with as much class, elegance and style as fashion.

The makeup by Givenchy was launched later in his life, co foundered by Jo Fairley. The design of the makeup overall is based for a sophisticated and independent woman, the colour use is strong and solid, normally with a gloss and in shades of red. In many of the editorials, the makeup looks are sophisticated and calm, there is never too much or an over amount on the face, the attention to detail is immaculate and pristine, and the skin of the model is bright and fresh.
The little black dress
The little black dress was worn by Audrey Hepburn in a comedy called 'breakfast at Tiffany's,' it is considered to be the most iconic piece of clothing of the 20th century and possibly the most famous little black dress of its all time.
