Conclusion

Conclusion of Shooting beauty: Givenchy advert and editorial

At the beginning of the project I was given a makeup/perfume brand; Givenchy, and an inspirational word; Fleeting. I found it difficult to expand and research into my inspirational word given to me, I knew the meaning but I didn't want to be too literal with my final makeup look. After researching and finding out what the word inspires me to think of, I then started to experiment with mood boards, story boards and face charts. I linked my word to other words such as; transparent, gel, gloss, sticky, and shine, going on from this I experimented with different gloss and gel products to find the most effective glossy product.

For the makeup for my shoot I matched the foundation to the models face and then used my mac eye shadow palette to add a subtle purple shade to the eye lids and mac gel over the top, and on the eye brows and eye lashes. I also used some on the cheek bones and the collar bones to accentuate the body shape of the model and to add shine to the skin, I wanted to use subtle amounts of makeup to keep with there transparent design. For my editorial I used more gloss over the models while face, focusing on the cheek bones, collar bones and forehead, I also added more colour to he models face using purple shades from my eye shadow palette. I used the eye shadow and the gel product in the same way I would use a contour kit. For the models hair I used straighteners, coconut oil and a smoothing spray to keep the hair pulled back from the face, I wanted to make the model look mature and sophisticated to fit in with the Givenchy style.

For the lighting set up I used the three lights, two soft boxes, a beauty dish and a black backdrop. I am happy with the overall finish to my design, I liked the use of gel on the models skin and I was able to use my chosen lighting set up to get the most light to reflect off of the gel product. To improve on my photography and styling skills; I will use two different models for an advert and editorial to enable me to find more models, practice makeup skills on a range of people and to show I can work two different designs.
