Make-up test on a model

Make-up Test on a Model

What I used:
  • Kryolan foundation palette
  • mac gloss gel
  • kryolan lipstick palette
  • makeup brushes
  • dark gel eyeshadow
This is the practice of my design for my Givenchy 'fleeting' advert, I have experimented with using a darker pink than I originally wanted. For the models darker skin I will use a nude pink colour to illustrate the subtlety to my design, I have also used mac gel over the lip colour to make it glossy and over parts of the face to contour with shine. My plan next is to experiment with my ideas using face charts and to practice my editorial look ready for my photo shoot.

I have tested out using light pink on the lips, this look would have captures my idea if I had used a white model, due to the skin tone of the model I will be using I will change the makeup colours to match. I will use dark purples and natural browns to subtly accentuate the models natural beauty.

Face Charts for advert

After researching into fleeting, I have created a makeup look that makes me think of my key word, they relate to each other because fleeting, being short lived reminds me of the translucent and shiny gel like textures, water and transparent goo. For these designs I have used subtle colours to accentuate the model and I will add mac gel gold over the eye lids and the lips. The face charts are based on the same concept, I played around with the subtlety of colours.

Face Charts For Editorial

For his face chart design I have used very subtle colours to accentuate the features of the model, the main focus for this design id he gloss aspect. I want to cover the face in mac gloss gel to bring it to a shine, I will cover the whole face in the gel and especially on the lips.

Final Mood board

My final story board shows the colour, model pose, gloss finish and inspirational shiny image that has inspired me to look at metallic colours for eye shadow.

Final Storyboard

My final story board shows the improvements I have made to my design, I will use the three light set up as planned, and I want the makeup to be subtle and shiny, giving off a 'barely there' look. I want the hair in the design to be very sleek and smooth to the face will little strays. I will be using mac gloss to put on the eye lids of the model over some dark eye shadow, this will draw the attention to the eyes. To make this look more intense I will use a light lip natural colour with a gloss finish. I want the model pose to empower the model nd the look. A serious stern look.

story board remade

In my new storyboard I have shows images that explain my idea process towards my final photo shoot. The wet look image is one that inspires my ideas, I want to create a very glossy makeup look and this image illustrates my concept. The lips show the subtle use of colour I want in my shoot; light colours that accentuate the skin tone, I will be advertising glossy eye makeup so I want the focus to be on the top half of the face, the lips will be something to accentuate the eyes. I have decided on using the three light set up for the shoot as this gives a good amount of bright light, and makes the skin look flawless. I have also added a model pose, I want the hands to be seen in the shoot, I will practice this in the upcoming weeks.

'Fleeting' and gloss

Fleeting and gloss

Fleeting, originally means short lived and quickly fading. After further research into the word itself and finding images that inspire me, I have designed a makeup look for advert and editorial based on a glossy and wet look. I like the idea of transparent and shiny makeup look to make the face glow, I will use a clear gel from mac that tallows me to put the product anywhere on the face. I have adapted my idea to reflect on the meaning of quickly moving away, colour; 'barely there' to accentuate the models natural skin and the light to shine on parts of the face. I originally wanted to include a wet look, to use water or glycerine on the makeup to make it shine, I will experiment with these makeup techniques to include them in my editorial.
